On September 10, 2024, Collegium Civitas joined the Merito Group, the largest network of non-public universities in Poland, which includes WSB Merito Universities and the University of Lower Silesia (DSW) in Wrocław. Despite this integration, Collegium Civitas will maintain its unique brand, name, and legal identity.
“Becoming part of the Merito Group, supported by the academic standards of the WSB-DSW Merito Scientific Federation, positions us to meet future challenges in higher education and research. Given Collegium Civitas’ rich history, achievements, and aspirations, as well as its strong reputation and societal influence, the university will retain its name, brand, location, legal identity, and leadership, including the current rector and pro-rector. We will continue to pursue our established mission, vision, and strategic goals,” explained Professor Stanisław Mocek, Rector of Collegium Civitas.
The integration of Collegium Civitas is part of the Merito Group’s ongoing consolidation efforts. “Consolidation in the higher education sector has become increasingly common in recent years, driven by demographic changes, environmental shifts, and challenges in maintaining educational quality. With 30 years of experience in supporting university development, including eight successful consolidations, we are the largest group of non-public universities in Poland. Our expertise ensures efficient management and a swift, flexible response to evolving environments and technological, demographic, and socio-political challenges. I am confident that Collegium Civitas will thrive, leveraging its history, experience, and human capital—its academic, teaching, and administrative staff—alongside the management and organizational expertise of the Merito Group,” said Paweł Zygarłowski, President of the Center for the Development of Higher Education Merito, the founding body of the Merito Group.
Collegium Civitas will soon join the WSB-DSW Merito Scientific Federation as part of its immediate post-integration plans.
